“The list doesn’t destroy culture; it creates it. Wherever you look in cultural history, you will find lists. In fact, there is a dizzying array: lists of saints, armies and medicinal plants, or of treasures and book titles. Think of the nature collections of the 16th century. My novels, by the way, are full of lists.” Read more from Der Spiegel’s interview with Umberto Eco here — timely in this season of Christmas lists and best-of-2010 lists.

La Biblioteca would not run smoothly without the help of our wonderful volunteers but we are losing these valuable members of staff due to changing life circumstances. We need volunteers to help us to continue to provide a wonderful Italian experience to our members. If you (or someone you know) would like to get some all important volunteer hours, boost your resume and give back to your community please get in touch.
Email us at: firstname.lastname@example.org
or give us a call on 604 430 3337
We will work with your schedule as much as we can but usual shifts are 3 hours long, either 10am - 1pm or 1pm-4pm, Tuesday to Saturday.
It is preferable (but not required) that you speak Italian and have an interest in Italian fiction.
